Karnataka man, his 2 sons drown during Ganesh idol immersion

A man and his two sons drowned in a 20-foot-deep lake during the immersion of a Ganesh idol in Karnataka’s Tumakuru on Sunday, officials said.
The two men, aged 20 and 24, along with other family members, had gathered at a recently dugged lake to perform the ritual immersion of the Ganesh idol.
The lake, with its muddy waters, proved treacherous when the brothers lost their footing and slipped into the deep waters.
Witnesses recount that the father, in a desperate bid to save his sons, jumped into the lake. However, he also drowned. At least 15 to 20 members of the family were present at the spot.
According to Tumkur Superintendent of Police (SP), Ashok KV, the lake was about 20 foot deep and was dug for local use.
“The boys accidentally slipped into the lake during the Ganesh idol immersion. The idol they were immersing was a 3-foot figure,” he said.
